Former Needham Public Schools Athletic Director and King School Dean of Athletics brings more than 25 years of experience in leadership and education

STOW, Mass. — June 5, 2026 — Masters Academy International today announced the hiring of Micah Hauben as Athletic Director, adding one of New England’s most accomplished and experienced athletic administrators to its leadership team ahead of the school’s inaugural academic year.

A Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA), Hauben brings with him more than 25 years of experience in athletics leadership, coaching, education, and program development across independent schools, public schools, collegiate athletics, and youth sports organizations. In his most recent role as Dean of Athletics at King School in Stamford, Connecticut, Hauben oversaw a comprehensive grades 6-12 athletics program consisting of more than 90 teams, nearly 100 coaches and more than 700 student-athletes.

“Micah’s deep experience as an athletic administrator and his commitment to student-athlete development makes him the ideal person to lead our athletics department and become the first Athletics Director in MAI’s history,” said Peter Masters, Co-Founder of Masters Academy International. “Throughout his career, he has built programs centered on excellence, character, accountability and student well-being. As we continue building a world-class academy, Micah’s leadership will play a critical role in shaping an athletic experience that is second to none.”

During his nine years at King School, Hauben expanded college recruitment opportunities, increased health and wellness resources, oversaw major facility enhancements and developed a culture of excellence, character, and student-wellbeing. The King School’s athletic program experienced significant growth and success, winning 48 league and New England team championships, 21 individual championships, along with 13 New England Prep players of the Year, six All-Americans, and two Gatorade players of the year.

Prior to King School, the Massachusetts native served as Athletic Director for Needham Public Schools from 2009-17. Hauben helped build one of the most successful public school athletic programs in Massachusetts which saw significant growth in participation, championship success, student leadership, and community support. Hauben also spent time as the Director of Boys Athletics and Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 2006-09 and as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Boston University Women’s Basketball from 2001-04, which included an America East title in 2003.

“Masters Academy International’s vision to redefine what the student-athlete experience can look like and build a world-class athletic program that sets students up for success is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Micah Hauben, Athletic Director at Masters Academy International. “What I love most about being an educator, coach and athletic administrator is the opportunity to positively influence the lives of young people during the most formative years of their development. MAI’s commitment to excellence, innovation, global learning and whole-student development aligns closely with my own values and I’m excited to get started with this transformative work.”

As Athletic Director, Hauben will oversee all athletic and sports education programming, including staffing, scheduling, facilities, compliance, student-athlete development and long-term strategic planning. He will work closely with coaches, faculty and performance staff to ensure a seamless integration of athletics and academics.

In addition to his deep professional experience, Hauben was an NCAA Division I Academic All-American in water polo at George Washington University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management from George Washington University. He also earned a Master of Science in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating magna cum laude from both institutions.
