CURRICULUM

Our Core Curriculum

At MAI, students experience an academic journey that is as dynamic as their athletic one. Our program combines the mastery of core subjects with the exploration of big ideas through interdisciplinary modules, advanced electives, and flexible study options. Every element is designed to stretch thinking, spark curiosity, and prepare students for success in college and beyond – while ensuring the right structures of support are always in place.

Interdisciplinary Modules: Humanities & STEAM

Students rotate through 4-6 week modules on an A/B day schedule, each co-taught by faculty from different disciplines. Examples may include “The Sustainability Effect” or “Global Trends,” where students explore big questions through multiple lenses and work to solve complex, authentic real-world problems. Each module includes opportunities for assessment and culminates in a signature learning experience–authentic and reflective of the work done by experts and professionals outside of school—like producing a public awareness campaign or designing and creating a novel product.

Discrete Courses: Math, Literacy & Language

Foundational skills in mathematics, English, and world languages are taught as stand-alone courses to ensure depth of knowledge and mastery. These courses provide the strong base students need for interdisciplinary work and college readiness.

Electives & Advanced Study

Students in Grades 11-12 and PG can pursue independent studies or advanced electives aligned with their interests and college goals. Whether diving deeper into computer science, exploring philosophy, or studying sports psychology, students have the flexibility to shape their academic path.

Online Programming

All students have access to online coursework for core subjects, tiered academic support, and enrichment. This ensures that students who miss class for competition travel stay on track, and that every student receives the level of challenge or support they need.

Academic Studio

Unlike traditional homework models where students struggle alone at night, MAI builds reflection, iteration, and feedback directly into the schedule through dedicated Academic Studio blocks. Students work alongside faculty, receive immediate guidance, and refine their thinking in real time. This is where learning becomes durable.
