MAI will be one of 15 schools across the nation and the only in New England competing in the country’s premiere high school basketball league

STOW, Mass.— June 24, 2026 — Masters Academy International (MAI) announced that its boys’ basketball program has been accepted into the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Scholastic Conference, widely regarded as the top high school basketball league in the United States.

The announcement places MAI among an elite group of nationally recognized basketball programs and provides its student-athletes with the opportunity to compete against the top teams and prospects in the country. Nearly 200 active NBA players during the 2025-26 season were Nike EYBL alumni.

Masters Academy will be one of 15 schools in the league and will be led by Head Coach Jason Smith. Smith arrives at MAI after 26 seasons leading Brewster Academy, where he built one of the most dominant prep basketball programs in the nation. Smith has produced over 25 NBA players, including the No. 17 selection in this year’s NBA Draft, Ebuka Okorie.

“The NIKE EYBL immediately places our student-athletes on one of the biggest stages in high school basketball,” said Jason Smith, Head Coach. “Our players will have the opportunity to compete against elite talent from across the country, challenge themselves against some of the nation’s premier programs and gain exposure to college coaches and NBA scouts. It’s an incredible opportunity for our students and speaks to the strength of our mission and what Masters Academy International is building.”

“Being selected to join the NIKE EYBL represents the highest level of scholastic basketball in the country,” said John Carroll, Director of Basketball. “Every game, every event and every opponent presents an opportunity for our student-athletes to compete against elite talent and measure themselves against the best programs in the nation. That’s the type of environment that accelerates development and prepares players for success at the collegiate and professional levels.”

Three of the top four picks in this year’s NBA Draft, AJ Dybantsa (1), Cameron Boozer (3), and Caleb Wilson (4), are NIKE EYBL alum.

“Joining the EYBL is a significant milestone for Masters Academy International and further validates the vision we have built for our student-athletes,” said Peter Masters, Co-Founder of Masters Academy International. “From day one, our goal has been to create an environment where our students can reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives. Access to the highest levels of competition without sacrificing academics, wellbeing and personal growth are essential to achieving that goal.”

Masters Academy International will be the only team from New England competing in the EYBL.
