Masters Academy International Names Ross Olsson Head Coach and Recruiter of Boys Hockey

Former professional player and Endicott College’s all-time leading scorer brings program-turnaround expertise to groundbreaking academy

STOW, MA. – Masters Academy International (MAI) today announced Ross Olsson as Head Coach and Recruiter of Boys Hockey, bringing a unique combination of elite playing experience and proven program-building success to the academy’s comprehensive hockey program. Olsson, who transformed Hillside School’s program to a 25-4-3 record in his second season and recently developed players drafted to the QMJHL, will help lead MAI’s boys hockey program when the academy opens in September 2026.

“We evaluated a lot of candidates, and Ross was the clear choice to help lead our inaugural program,” said Mike Anderson, Director of Boys Hockey at MAI. “He’s one of those young coaches you encounter early in their career where you just know big things are ahead. Years from now, people will look at where he’s been and what he’s accomplished and say, ‘We knew him when.’ Our program and our students are incredibly fortunate to have a coach like Ross at the start of this journey.”

“Ross brings the perfect combination of elite playing credentials and the ability to rapidly develop winning programs,” said Peter Masters, Co-Founder and Director of Athletics at MAI. “As Endicott’s all-time leading scorer and a four-year professional player, he understands what it takes to compete at the highest levels. His transformation of Hillside School shows he can translate that experience into results for our student-athletes.”

A native of Billerica, Massachusetts, Olsson’s playing career took him from Williston Northampton School through the USHL and NAHL before making history at Endicott College as part of their inaugural hockey season. Still the program’s all-time leading point scorer, he went on to play four professional seasons in the ECHL and AHL with Worcester, Orlando, Providence, and Bridgeport. As a player, he captured the Robertson Cup championship in the NAHL.

“Being a good teammate is something that anyone can do and there are no excuses,” said Olsson. “Being able to pick teammates up when they make a mistake is something that will not just help you now but will help you in the long term as a player and person.”

At Hillside School, Olsson demonstrated his ability to build winning cultures quickly, turning around a program and capturing the Eaglebrook tournament championship while developing players who advanced to elite pathways.

“Our practices will focus on bringing college- and pro-level tempo to Masters Academy,” Olsson explained. “We want players to think and move at a high pace. By making practices demanding, game situations will feel familiar, because our athletes will have already experienced them countless times in training. That preparation leads to success.”

The boys hockey program at MAI will serve as a gateway to NCAA play as well as elite Junior hockey pathways including the NTDP, USHL, and CHL.

“We’ll practice and compete hard at MAI, but real development happens everywhere,” Olsson said. “The classroom, the dorms, and daily habits all matter. As a staff, we take a holistic approach to each student, because the work you do away from the rink has to match the work you do on it if you want to reach your full potential.”
