Olympic-level coaching team founder brings 25 years of excellence in developing technically skilled and mentally strong athletes
STOW, MA. – Masters Academy International (MAI) today announced Geneviève Coulombe as Head Coach of Figure Skating, bringing championship-level expertise and a proven development model to the academy’s comprehensive athletics program. Coulombe, a former Canadian National Champion who founded Level Up Performance Skating in Salem, New Hampshire, will establish MAI’s figure skating program when the academy opens in September 2026.
“Geneviève’s unique combination of elite competitive experience and her holistic approach to athlete development perfectly aligns with our vision at Masters Academy International,” said Peter Masters, Co-Founder and Director of Athletics at MAI. “Her commitment to excellence through education, discipline, and resilience, while developing the whole person, makes her the ideal leader for our figure skating program.”
Coulombe brings over 25 years of coaching experience in both Canada and the United States, having guided numerous athletes to Regional, Sectional, and National medals, including coaching the 1995 U.S. Intermediate Ladies National Champion. As founder of Level Up Performance Skating, she leads a multidisciplinary team of Olympic-level coaches dedicated to developing technically skilled, mentally strong, and well-rounded athletes. Her skaters have achieved the highest levels in the sport, with dozens earning their U.S. Figure Skating Gold Tests in disciplines such as Moves in the Field and Free Skate.
“Success is not defined only by medals or rankings, but by growth, perseverance, and personal excellence,” said Coulombe. “I want my athletes to feel proud of their discipline, work ethic, and ability to overcome challenges. Off the ice, success means developing confidence, kindness, and integrity—qualities that will serve them far beyond their athletic careers.”
Coulombe focuses on building a love for the sport through fun, structured training that emphasizes strong fundamentals and body awareness. Her approach develops confidence, discipline, and curiosity—helping young skaters discover joy in hard work and pride in progress.
“What inspires me most is seeing young athletes grow into exceptional human beings, learning dedication, perseverance, and how to turn challenges into opportunities,” Coulombe explained. “Sport and education are deeply connected, and the confidence, focus, and work ethic built through skating prepare students for success in every area of life.”
The figure skating program at MAI will feature individualized training plans, access to a collaborative coaching team including Olympic athletes and international specialists, and a clear pathway from foundational skills through elite competition. Many of Coulombe’s athletes have gone on to prestigious institutions including Ivy League universities, with their accomplishments on the ice making them exceptionally strong candidates in the admissions process.
“Teamwork in skating means supporting each other through challenges and celebrating each other’s progress,” Coulombe noted. “It builds trust, humility, and belonging, qualities that help athletes thrive not only in sport but in life.”
