Masters Academy International Names Susannah Muench Director of Student Wellbeing & Head of Middle School

Accomplished Educator and Student Support Leader Will Advance MAI’S Schoolwide wellbeing strategy and oversee grades 6-8

STOW, Mass. – March 4, 2026 – Masters Academy International (MAI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Susannah Muench as Director of Student Wellbeing & Head of Middle School, a dynamic educator with more than 20 years’ experience whose leadership and dedication to student growth will guide learning and development.

Muench arrives at Masters Academy, a groundbreaking boarding school located in Stow that will offer rigorous academics and elite athletic training, following five years in leadership positions at Avenues: The World School in São Paulo, Brazil. Prior to that, she led the middle school at the prestigious Westside School in Seattle.

With a reputation for creating environments where students feel challenged and supported as they grow intellectually, socially and emotionally, Muench will help build MAI’s student support framework, including social-emotional learning programming and systems that promote belonging, resilience, and balance for student-athletes. Her deep experience guiding students through critical academic and developmental years will further position Masters Academy as a leader in education. Muench will work closely with academic and athletics leadership to ensure students receive the structure and support needed to thrive in the classroom, in training and in daily life.

“Susannah’s commitment to nurturing the whole student — both heart and mind — makes her a perfect fit to lead our middle school,” said Head of School Andy Williams. “Her leadership in education aligns seamlessly with our values of academic excellence, character development, and personalized learning.”

In her dual role, Muench will oversee academic programming, faculty collaboration, and the daily student experience for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. She will also lead efforts to strengthen student support practices across the school community, including advisory and wellbeing initiatives designed to help students grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

“Every child deserves the chance to succeed in both their passion and their academics,” Muench said. “Too often, I’ve seen schools force students to choose between what they love and what they’re told they should prioritize. MAI’s philosophy represents something different — a genuine belief that excellence in athletics and academics are not competing demands, but complementary paths toward becoming a well-rounded, ethical person and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to support my students in every dimension of their growth.”

A data-driven leader, Muench uses measurable outcomes to continuously evaluate and refine programs for maximum impact. She has a proven track record of implementing strategic initiatives that consistently improve student performance and engagement metrics.

Muench holds a master’s degree in teaching, as well as a post-master’s in educational leadership, from Seattle University in Washington. Outside of the classroom, she is an avid runner who has completed a marathon and several half marathons.
