Masters Academy International Introduces Comprehensive Mental Wellness & Performance Model
New hires Dr. Jacquelyn Reinert and Dr. Anthony Magdaleno underscore MAI’s commitment to prioritizing mental wellbeing alongside academics and athletics
STOW, Mass. — June 1, 2026 — Masters Academy International today announced the addition of Dr. Jacquelyn Reinert, Psy.D., as School Psychologist and Dr. Anthony Magdaleno, Ph.D., as Mental Performance Coach, further strengthening the academy’s commitment to holistic student-athlete development ahead of its opening in September 2026.
While many schools provide reactive support services, MAI is proactively embedding mental wellness and mental performance resources into the daily fabric of campus life. The announcement comes during Mental Health Awareness Month and reflects MAI’s commitment to building one of the most comprehensive student-athlete wellbeing models in the country. As part of the school’s founding vision, MAI is integrating licensed psychological services, social-emotional learning and mental performance coaching directly into the academy environment.
“Too often, mental health and mental performance have been treated as secondary support systems in youth athletics instead of foundational ones,” said Andy Williams, Head of School. “At MAI, we are intentionally building an environment where psychological wellbeing, resilience and human development are prioritized every day — not just when challenges arise. This integrated approach represents the future of elite student-athlete development.”
Dr. Jacquelyn Reinert, known to students as “Dr. Jacki”, brings nearly two decades of experience providing comprehensive psychological services for children, adolescents and families across public and private schools, psychiatric hospitals, community mental health organizations and private practice settings.
At MAI, Dr. Reinert will serve on the Grades 6-9 Student Wellbeing program and the Upper Grades College & Career Counseling team, providing individual and group counseling, leading school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives and collaborating closely with faculty, coaches and families.
A licensed mental health counselor, Dr. Reinert previously served as Assistant Director of the Central Massachusetts Child Trauma Center, a federally funded trauma initiative focused on advancing trauma-informed care and capacity building for child-serving systems. Most recently, she worked as a school psychologist through White Birch Educational Services in one of New Hampshire’s largest school districts.
“What I love most about being an educator and school psychologist is witnessing the small moments that become major breakthroughs for students and families,” said Jacquelyn Reinert. “When students feel psychologically safe, supported and understood, they become more willing to take healthy risks, persevere through challenges and grow both academically and personally. The opportunity to help build that culture at MAI from day one is incredibly meaningful.”
Dr. Reinert earned her Doctorate of Psychology in Counseling and School Psychology from Rivier University, a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Science in Personality Psychology from Suffolk University. She is a past recipient of the New Hampshire Psychological Association’s Member of the Year Award and the Sr. Mary Jane Benoit Outstanding Educator Award.
Joining her is Anthony Magdaleno, Ph.D., who will lead MAI’s mental performance services for student-athletes, coaches and teams across the academy.
Dr. Magdaleno has nearly a decade of experience working with youth, collegiate and elite athletes to enhance performance and wellbeing in high-pressure environments. His work focuses on areas including confidence, resilience, leadership, motivation, focus, stress management and competitive anxiety.
Prior to joining MAI, Dr. Magdaleno served as a Mental Performance Coach with the Sport and Performance Psychology Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also completed a performance psychology internship with the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.
Dr. Magdaleno earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton before completing his Ph.D. in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a professional member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
“My philosophy is person-centered, evidence-based and collaborative,” said Anthony Magdaleno. “The opportunity to integrate mental performance services into an academy environment like MAI — while supporting students as they pursue ambitious academic and athletic goals — is incredibly exciting.”
The addition of Dr. Reinert and Dr. Magdaleno continues MAI’s rapid expansion of its founding academic and athletic leadership team as the academy prepares to welcome its inaugural class this fall on its 82-acre campus in Stow, Massachusetts.
