The Mavericks defeat Atlantic Coast Hockey Academy, 5-2, in the program’s inaugural contest.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — September 2, 2026 — Masters Academy International (MAI) Girls Hockey made history Wednesday, earning the first victory in program history with a 5-2 win over Atlantic Coast Hockey Academy (ACA) at the New England Sports Center.

The Mavericks wasted no time making their mark. Hailey Tabb scored the first goal in program history just under a minute into the game, finishing a feed from Ashlee Marsala to give MAI an early 1-0 lead. Gia Orizotti followed minutes later, scoring off an assist from Brooklyn Taylor to extend the advantage to 2-0.

Atlantic Coast answered before the end of the first period and eventually pulled even late in the second.

With the game tied 2-2 and the second period winding down, MAI responded. With just 8.9 seconds remaining, Marsala found the back of the net off assists from Tenley Marengi and Tabb, sending the Mavericks into the final period with a 3-2 advantage.

MAI carried that momentum into the third, striking twice in the opening minutes. Melina Trontz scored off assists from Claire Sullivan and Orizotti before Marsala added her second goal of the game, assisted by Tabb, to extend the lead to 5-2.

From there, the Mavericks controlled the pace of play and closed out the 5-2 victory, officially securing win No. 1 in MAI Girls Hockey history.
